Web 2.0 Tools and Apps
Blabberize - Use any graphic and record your voice to create a "talking animation" to get your message across.
Evernote - Allows you to grab anything--web pages, pictures, notes, etc. Grab using your web cam, phone camera, or Evernote’s app. Evernote will then place it in a central private location on their server. You can create albums and organize your information further. Albums could also be made public.
Linoit - I love linoit.com (Amy R). It's an online bulletin board where you can post sticky notes, videos, photos, or files. You can create multiple boards for different topics and you can access it from any web browser. For example, I have Work and Home boards and I color code the stickies on my Work board by school. There's even an iPhone/iPad app!
Prezi - Create presentations in 3-D. Upload images, videos, YouTube videos, PDFs and other media. Check out their introductory video and tutorials.
Pinterest - A collection of creative DIY projects that can be used for your classroom or at home. Search for reading projects, classroom decor, etc.
Popplet - Popplet is a story-board type program that looks a little like Prezi. You can collaborate with others to create a presentation.
Remind101.com - Text messaging without the phone numbers. Teachers sign up their class and are provided a code. Teachers share the code with students. Teachers can send a text/email to the code and the message gets forwarded to the numbers listed.
Scoop.it - Create an account, create pages, and add content from other websites -- or your own content. It also pulls stuff off the web it thinks will have to do with topics you create. You can also "scoop it" by surfing the web and adding it to your page with a widget. It's kind of like creating your own newspaper.
Screencast-o-matic.com - Create Videos
Showmewhatswrong.com - When they have tech issues, they click on your link and make a screen cast of them talking along with their computer problem. It then sends you the video.
Soshiku.com - Schoolwork Tracker - You can notify students via text message that assignments are due, can attach files, can partner up with people
Snag Films - over 2,000 free, streamable videos includung educational and documentaries.
Storify.com - Allows you to accumulate articles as well as social media entries and place them on a single web page, includes search bar as well as drag and drop elements
Timetoast - Allows you to create interactive timelines on any topic you want. You can add text, URL links and photos.
ToonDoo- Create 1, 2 or 3 panel comic strips. Combine several to create a longer "story".
Voki - A free service that lets you create customized avatars. Can add voice to your avatar and post your Voki to any blog, website or profile.
Wallwisher - Online bulletin board, Students can post, Use it for "parking lot" Similar to linoit, but has a nice embed feature.
WeVideo.com - Like iMovie or MovieMaker, but it lives online
Wordle - Create word clouds using individual words. The size of the word increases the more it is used in the source text.
